Ok horror fans, this ones for you! This 1986 gore fest is done old school style with all practical effects from beginning to end. Considered a horror classic, this film ranks in the top 10 horror classics of all time (in my opinion). I was only 10 years old when I saw Demons and it literally gave me nightmares! To the younger generation of today, Demons might come off as a bad B-movie with some laughable moments and bad acting. To a younger audience, who has become desensitized to these horror classic’s, it might just pass as a fun popcorn movie, but to me this is practical effects at its best! Screen play by Dario Argento and directed by Lamberto Bava, these guys are legends in the horror genre. I cant say enough about the practical effects of this film, with David Cronenberg type transformations that will have you on the edge of your seat! Having some of the best human to monster (demon) transformations, it can be compared to the transformation scene in “An American Werewolf in London”. The demons in this movie make the zombies from “The Walking Dead” look like child’s play! Having a completely unknown cast it suffers in the acting department, with that being said, its that unknown cast that give the film its surreal type setting. One main character that sticks out as a fan favorite was “Tony” played by Victor Beard (pictured above). Yes, before there was Samuel L. Jackson there was this guy, Tony (A.K.A. Tony The Pimp)! The film also has a really cool score, using Rock hits from the 80’s that compliment the movies tone. I totally recommend this movie if your a horror fan for this is a must see horror flick! Turn off the lights, get your popcorn ready and prepare to be scared and yet never lose your smile with all its gory goodness. This is a solid 9!
