The Movie: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Comic Book: Marvel Ultimates: Captain America

In the comics the ultimates is an alternate universe where each marvel character has a slightly different look and origin story. The movie, not taken from any one comic book story, does take the costume and look from that ultimates universe. This marvel movie has been described as a superhero movie disguised as a spy thriller, a spy thriller that packs the action of a summer blockbuster! What made this film look so good was that it favored more on the live action then CGI, which made for a perfect mix of both. With a solid “political” spy story and the acting talent to support it, this is in my top 3 marvel movie so far! The action was amazing, from the fighting to the epic car chase and shootout scene when Hydra attempts the assassination of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The fighting was on par with the rest of the action, I mean how can you go wrong when you cast former UFC Champion George St-Pierre as Georges Batroc (The Leaper), going one-on-one with Cap himself! The same can be said of the hand-to-hand fights between Captain America (Chris Evans) and The Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). This also introduces Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) and Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo) to the marvel universe while bringing back Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and other established marvel characters. Another very honorable mention is actor Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce who is no stranger to the spy thriller movies! With a solid spy thriller story, amazing action and a well rounded cast of some of the best marvel characters, this movie is a 10 for me! If you have not seen this film please do so, trust me. Because as the tag line reads, “In Heroes We Trust”… So until next time,

“See You At The Movies”
