Rogue One is the story of a group of rebels who set out to steal the plans of the Death Star, a weapon of mass destruction. Lead by Jyn Erso, a criminal who is rescued by the Rebel Alliance, they form a tight group determined to complete the mission against all odds. As the Empire closes in on the completion of the Death Star Jyn Erso and her group must race against time with the mission growing more desperate with every second. When a possible weakness to the Death Star is uncovered, the rebel group set there plan in motion with only hope on there side, but will that be enough…

Playing the lead role is Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso) who does a wonder job leading this action packed space adventure to one of the most beloved franchises of all time. Strong and rebellious, she plays her character of Jyn great, which helps to develop her character as she grows to become a believable leader type! Along side her is a great cast of characters all who bring something different to the table. So many new characters, all of which, are so good its hard to pick a favorite. From Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), a true believer in “The Force”, to the voice of Alan Tudyk as (K-2SO) who gives humor without trying to be funny. Another honorable mention is that of Diego Luna (Cassian Andor), who plays off of Felicity Jones great, with good chemistry and a bond you never see coming. Directed by Gareth Edwards who does a wonderful job pacing this action packed space opera and doing a spectacular job telling the story, all at the same time, he will be a director to keep an eye on.

Being plucked from the Star Wars timeline this film can be considered a prequel and a sequel in one. Its what I consider one of the best Star Wars movies yet! The characters are what really made the movie for me, all were very likable characters and all were new to the franchise which makes it even more special. There are two CGI characters that were done so good I never even noticed one, and was completely amazed by the other! One fantastic scene that left me on the edge of my seat was that of Lord Vader, wow! That Darth Vader scene put the horror back in Darth Vader! The lack of Star Wars theme music and the traditional beginning scroll might leave Rogue One feeling different from the rest of the Star Wars franchise, but make no mistake, the risky chances the studio took paid off and paid off big! Even if Rogue One gives you the feeling of disconnection to the franchise, fear not, for when you hear the sound of Lord Vaders Light Saber the power of the dark side will definitely pull you right back in!
